EVENTS & FESTIVALS safety

Music concert

As an event organiser you have enough to think about.

As per HSE guidelines it is your duty to:

  • Plan, manage and monitor your event to make sure that workers and the visiting public are not exposed to health and safety risks.

  • Be responsible for ensuring that overall safety at the event is maintained so that as far as reasonably practicable, people setting up, breaking down and attending the event are not exposed to risks to their health and safety".

The HSE also state:

  • It is your responsibility to ensure staff to be competent to undertake their role safely. There should also be an appropriate level of competent supervision, proportionate to the risk, nature of the work and the personnel involved.

  • It is recommended any external consultants you use are "registered on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR)".

And you are ultimately responsible for:

  • The health and safety of everyone attending your event.

  • Making sure you have appropriate safety and assistance at a level suited to the event.

  • Guaranteeing that all contractors are competent, all traders are meeting requirements and that acts and artists all comply with safety requirements.
